Born in Germany, near Hannover, Diane KRUGER fell in love with classical dance at a very young age. She was incredibly talented and gifted with a natural taste for discipline and excellence. She studied this art for many years, until a bad knee fracture ended her first passion. Diane then set out on a modelling career. A finalist at age 15 in the Elite Look of the Year contest in 1992, she soon graced the covers of all the major women's magazines (Vogue, Elle, Marie-Claire, etc.). In the early 2000's, she had established herself as a famous international top model, but she dreamed of something else. becoming an actress, playing a role, being on stage, recalling her days as a dancer.

She debuted as an actress in 2002 in the first film by French actor and director Guillaume CANET, "Mon idole", which was hailed by the public and critics in France. Her career took on an indisputable international dimension in 2004 with the release of "Troy" by Wolfgang PETERSEN: she was selected for the highly sought-after role of Helen of Troy, alongside Brad PITT, Orlando BLOOM and Eric BANA. Backed by this prestigious distribution and carried forward by the worldwide success of the film, the "Queen of Troy" also became one of the new queens of Hollywood and has gone from one movie set to the next ever since.
